BMW has officially confirmed that the new BMW M8 and 8 Series Gran Coupe will be launched in India. Both cars will start selling in India on 8 May 2020. The company has listed these cars on its official website, which has confirmed its launch in India.
The 8 Series line-up will be BMW's new range top models in the Indian market, replacing the 6 Series Gran Coupe. The new BMW 8 Series will be offered in two variants - 840i Gran Coupe and M8. Both models will be given many features, and equipment with some optional packages will also be provided. BMW India can offer a different driver package and customization options with the new 8 Series M8.
Technically, the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbo engine is mated to the BMW 840i Gran Coupe, while the M8 model is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine. The car's 3.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generates 335 bhp of power and 500 Nm of peak torque, which is offered in an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The powerful 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine in the car is capable of generating 625 bhp power and 750 Nm peak torque. This engine is also equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission. The M8 variant has also been made available in the xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
Internationally, the 8 Series is offered in three types of body styles - coupe, convertible, and gran coupe. BMW India is about to launch the 4-door version of this car first. The 8 Series Convertible is to be launched later in the Indian market. The estimated ex-showroom price of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe will be between Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore, while the cost of its M8 variant can go up to Rs 2 crore.
