Expected vs Launch Price Comparison

We were expecting the C3 Aircross to start from Rs. 10.0 lakh and top out at Rs. 12.70 lakh. Our estimation for the starting price as well as the top variant’s price were spot on as both were within 1% deviation from the launch prices. Even the launch prices for the Plus 7S and Max 5S ended up deviating only a little over 1% from our expectations. Plus 5S was the only variant which deviated significantly from our expected prices. With a 4.9% deviation, we’d say it’s barely within our acceptable deviation cap of 5%.

Price Reaction

With a base price of under Rs. 10.0 lakh, the C3 Aircross is the most affordable C-segment SUV. Moreover, it manages to offer better performance than base petrol engines of all current C-segment SUVs. Since it has a larger 1.2L turbo petrol engine, it beats the torque output of the Kushaq 1.0L turbo and Taigun 1.0L turbo. Compared to the 1.5L normal petrol engines of cars like the Creta, Grand Vitara, Seltos, Hyryder, Elevate and Astor, the torque output of the C3 Aircross has a significant torque advantage. In terms of mileage too, the C3 Aircross maintains a healthy lead over cars like the Seltos, Creta, Elevate and Astor.

Thus, we have a car that comes across as a winner. Although, it doesn’t attract buyers who like a car with a lot of features. The C3 Aircross will feel pretty basic even if you buy its top variant. But it has the mechanical side sorted out as it feels connected while driving and offers phenomenal ride quality.

Then comes the option of 7 seats, which further makes it quite unique. Currently, it’s the only SUV in its class with a 3-row seating. A lucrative pricing and sorted dynamics make it an attractive offering for some buyers.

So, as a package, for better or worse, it manages to stand out with ease.

We wish the mid variant’s prices were a little lower. As things stand right now, the mid variant comes across as overpriced. Although, the higher Max variant and the 7-seat trims partially make up for the mid trim’s slack.

With this pricing and a few USPs, the C3 Aircross is in a good position to carve out a niche for itself in the crowded C-SUV space.
