New Maruti Suzuki Swift Gets ADAS, New Engine
2024 Suzuki Swift Gets ADAS
Earlier this month, Suzuki had released images of the new Swift hatchback’s exterior and interior ahead of the Japan Mobility Show and we speculated that it could get advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features. Now, with the new Swift officially unveiled, we can confirm that it does get ADAS features such as lane keeping assist, high beam assist and autonomous emergency braking, among others. We are currently awaiting further details regarding the full list of ADAS features in the new Swift.
While the global-spec new-generation Swift will go on sale with these ADAS features, we do not expect Maruti Suzuki to offer the hatchback with ADAS features at launch in India. Instead, we believe the India-spec Swift will get ADAS when Maruti Suzuki introduce the Swift facelift sometime between 2027 and 2028. As of now, the Grand Vitara is likely to become the first Maruti Suzuki product to offer ADAS in India.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift Features
The new Swift 2024 gets a couple of additional features over the model sold currently. First off, the Swift showcased at the auto show features cameras on the ORVMs, front grille and tailgate, confirming that it gets a 360-degree parking camera system. Other notable features include front parking sensors and an electronic parking brake. However, these are not likely to be on offer at launch in India since the Swift’s more expensive Nexa sibling, the Baleno, does not get them currently. That said, like the ADAS features, Maruti Suzuki could introduce these features later with the facelift.
In terms of safety, the new Swift was showcased with 3-point seatbelts and headrests for all passengers and these will be on offer at launch in India. As far as the cabin is concerned, the new Swift 2024 is a lot more premium than before and looks similar to the Baleno. Suzuki have ditched the round AC vents altogether. Instead, the central vents look similar to the ones offered in the Baleno with the hazard switch placed in the middle. Above these AC vents lies a new 9-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. Even the HCAV controls look similar to the ones offered in the Baleno.
Other highlights inside the new Swift include dual-tone white and black dashboard, textured door cards, engine start-stop button and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The latter features an analogue tachometer and digital speedometer and multi-info display, which should please car enthusiasts. The image also shows 2 USB charging ports and a 12V power socket placed lower down the centre console.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift India Launch
We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the new Swift in India next year. When launched, the new Swift 2024 will continue to rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago, among other B-segment hatchbacks sold in the country.
