Skoda To Unveil New Superb On November 2 – Release Design Sketches
2024 Skoda Superb Design Sketches Released
Straight away, it is clear that the new Superb follows an evolutionary approach in terms of design. However, the sketches suggest that the new Superb will look sharper than the outgoing model. Up front, the 2024 Superb features a wider butterfly grille with vertical slats and chrome surrounds. The headlamps look slimmer than before and feature twin LED projector units. The side profile features a prominent character line that runs across the length of the car and door mounted ORVMs.
At the rear, the new Superb gets revamped LED tail lamps that are reminiscent of the units offered in Audi’s latest sedans. Skoda say the new Superb will be taller and longer than its predecessor, which should free up more space for passengers. The new Superb is 4912mm long and sports a wheelbase of 2841mm. Skoda also claim that the 2024 Superb offers an impressive drag coefficient of 0.24cd.
New Skoda Superb Interior Design And Features
A few weeks ago, Skoda revealed the interior of the new Superb. Based on these images, we can confirm that the 2024 Superb will get a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Skoda’s latest operating system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The driver gets a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 2-spoke steering whee with capacitive buttons for various car functions. Unlike the latest Volkswagen cars, the Skoda Superb 2024 features rotary dials for air con blower and temperature controls. There’s even a large armrest with plenty of storage space between the driver and front co-passenger, and the centre console features a wireless charging pad and tambour door which could be hiding cup holders.
2024 Skoda Superb: Powertrain Options And India Launch Details
The India-spec Skoda Superb was only offered with a single engine option – the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol – towards the end of its life. The powertrain in the Superb, codenamed EA888 evo3 DQ-381-7F, was not updated to comply with BS6 Phase-2 norms. However, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India have introduced the successor to the EA888 evo3, the EA888 evo4. But, this powertrain is only available with 4-wheel-drive. The latest powertrain already powers the Volkswagen Tiguan 2023 and Skoda Kodiaq 2023.
As per sources, Skoda India’s product planning team have rejected this powertrain for the Octavia and Superb, owing to price and fuel efficiency measures, which leads us to believe Skoda won’t launch the all-new Superb in India. However, in a recent media interaction, Skoda India confirmed that they are working on an update for the Superb sedan, which is likely to launch in India later this year. Other global markets, however, will receive the new Superb with VW Group’s final combustion engines and plug-in hybrid powertrains that are developed to meet Euro 7 emission regulations.
