Suzuki Showcase New Swift At Tokyo Motor Show – India Launch Likely Next Year
New Maruti Suzuki Swift 2024 Gets A Refreshed Design
The 2024 Swift from Suzuki retains all the traditional design cues the Swift is known for. Suzuki calls the car showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show a concept, but we think it looks close to production-ready. Like 3 generations of the Swift before, the new Swift retains the floating roof effect with blacked-out A- and B-pillars. The most prominent changes on the 2024 Swift are the new clamshell bonnet and the crease that runs the length of the car and above the door handles.
The 2024 Swift introduces a distinctive front grille with an octagonal design, framed by gloss black accents. The Suzuki logo is positioned just above. Its headlamps incorporate LED projector units and J-shaped LED DRLs, while the fog lamps are housed in a glossy black casing within the lower bumper. This dynamic appearance is complemented by a silver skid plate on the lower bumper, adding a sporty touch. At the rear, the new Swift features clear lens tail lamps with LED lighting elements and the new bumpers feature a silver skid plate to break the visual mass.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift Interior Highlights
The cabin of the 2024 Swift hatchback looks a lot more premium than before and looks similar to the interior of the new Baleno. Suzuki have ditched the round AC vents altogether. Instead, the central vents look similar to the ones offered in the Baleno with the hazard switch placed in the middle. Above these AC vents lies a new 9-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. Even the HCAV controls look similar to the ones offered in the Baleno.
Other highlights inside the new Swift include dual-tone white and black dashboard, textured door cards, engine start-stop button and a part-digital instrument cluster. The latter features an analogue tachometer and digital speedometer and multi-info display, which should please car enthusiasts. The image also shows 2 USB charging ports and a 12V power socket placed lower down the centre console.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift To Get More Safety Features
The cabin of the new Swift reveals a few interesting details, such as the presence of a dedicated button on the steering wheel for Lane Keeping Assist. Hence, we expect the new Swift to feature a host of ADAS features.
However, there are no radar sensors visible at the front of the hatchback. Instead, we can see a camera mounted behind the IRVM on the front windscreen. This suggests that the new Swift could get camera-based ADAS features instead of radar-based features. Apart from Lane Keeping Assist, we could also expect ADAS features like High Beam Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking. That said, it remains to be seen if Maruti Suzuki offer these ADAS features on the India-spec Swift.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Powertrain Options
Suzuki are yet to reveal the powertrain options of the 2024 Swift. However, we expect the India-spec new-gen Swft to retain the current model’s 1.2L normal petrol engine with dualjet technology. In the current Swift, this engine produces 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque. This engine is currently offered with the option of a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). We expect these transmissions to be retained as well. Additionally, the India-spec Swift is also offered witht the option of a CNG engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. While this option may not be available at the launch of the new Swift in India, we expect Maruti to offer this option at a later date as CNG car sales are at all-time high.
2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Expected Price And Launch
We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch the 2024 Swift in India next year. When launched, the new Swift 2024 will continue to rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago, among other B-segment hatchbacks sold in the country. The new 2024 Swift is expected to cost upwards of Rs. 6.35 lakh in India. To know how we arrived at this expected price, tap the link below.
