Tata Harrier Safari To Get Lane Keep Assist Soon

Both the Harrier facelift and Safari facelift offer ADAS features such as

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Auto emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning
  • Rear collision warning
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • High beam assist
  • Lane departure warning
  • Blind spot detection
  • Lane change alert
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Door open alert

There’s one glaring feature that is missing in the list of ADAS features in the Harrier and Safari – lane keep assist. This feature is offered in the Tata Harrier and Safari’s rival, the Mahindra XUV700. However, if reports are to be believed, that could soon change with a software update. According to Tata Motors, the previous version of the Harrier and Safari did not receive lane keep assist due to its hydraulic power steering system. With the new Harrier and Safari facelifts switching to an electronic power steering setup, it wouldn;t be hard to implement lane keep assist. Reports suggest that Tata Motors are currently working on calibrating the lane keep assists feature. Hence, we could expect the carmaker to roll out this feature via a software update in the coming months.

In other news, the Global NCAP recently crash tested the Harrier facelift and Safari facelift, and both SUVs scored a 5-star rating from the crash test agency. You can read the full report by tapping the link below.
