Lotus Emira Launch Confirmed For 2024

Lotus Emira – What Is It?

The Lotus Emira is Lotus Cars’ flagship sports car. The Lotus Emira 2-door sports car made its global debut in 2021. Manufactured at Lotus’ Hethel plant in England, the Emira is the iconic sports car manufacturer's last-ever vehicle featuring internal combustion engines. Lotus’ future offerings will be all-electric, like the Eletre that was launched in India recently.

Lotus Emira – Design and Features

The Lotus Emira takes design inspiration from the carmaker’s Evija hypercar. Up front, the Emira features vertical LED headlamps with a twin blade design. The bonnet features vents to channel the air over the car efficiently. Around the side, it features a scoop that feeds cool air to the engine, which is positioned just behind the cockpit. Lotus offer the Emira with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard while the optional Lotus Drivers Package offers a stiffer suspension and grippier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres

On the inside, the Emira offers 2 bucket seats covered in Alcantara. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital display while a 10-25-inch touchscreen takes care of infotainment features. The Emira offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well. Other highlights include a fighter jet-inspired ignition switch cover and exposed gear linkages.       

Lotus Emira – Powertrain And Specs

The Lotus Emira is offered with 2 engine options in global markets. The first option – a 2.5-litre Toyota-sourced V6 supercharged petrol engine – puts out 406PS of power and 430Nm of torque. This engine is offered with the option of a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The second engine option – a Mecred-AMG-sourcd 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol – puts out 365PS of power and 430Nm of torque and comes with a DCT-type automatic transmission.

Lotus Emira India Launch And Rivals

The Lotus Emira is expected to go on sale in India in early 2024. It is likely to get a starting price of around Rs. 2.0 crore. When launched, the Emira will rival the Porsche 718 Cayman, prices for which start currently start at Rs 1.47 crore (ex-showroom) before options.
