Electric cars are a relatively new trend in the Indian market, with Tata Motors at the forefront of the electric car segment by offering a wide range of cars. However, there have been instances of malfunctions with electric cars, including one particular case involving Tata Motors.

I am located in Thane. I have contacted Tata Motors helpline and they are sending a towing car from Wadala. The wait time for the same is 1.5Hours as per the towing car vendor. Why can’t you send someone from Thane, Mulund or some other nearby location.

The car owner reported the incident on various social media platforms. Akash Bhangre, who owns the Tata Nexon EV Max, shared a picture of his car and stated: “The gearbox of my Nexon EV Max has suddenly stopped working and the car is currently stuck in this position blocking the whole lane. This has created a big scene in my society. Please help.”

It appears that the owner of the Tata Nexon EV experienced a drivetrain failure, which caused the car to stop and block the basement of their residential complex. As most electric cars are equipped with a single-speed gearbox, the car was unable to move.

Moving an electric car that is not in neutral can be a difficult task. It is possible that the owner was unable to move the vehicle as it was stuck in drive mode. The owner reached out to Tata Motors EV for assistance. Unfortunately, we have not received any updates on whether the issue was resolved and if the vehicle was moved.

Cost of Tata Nexon traction motor

In the past year, an owner of a Tata Nexon EV shared a photo of the traction motor along with its cost. The photo showed the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of the spare part as 4,47,489 rupees. Although the owner did not mention the specific issue with the car that led to the motor replacement, it appeared that the cost of changing the electric motor without the warranty would have been close to 4.5 lakh rupees. Tata Motors provides a warranty of up to 8 years or 1.6 lakh kilometers for the battery and traction motor.

The Nexon EV Max is equipped with a 40.5 kWh battery pack, which is 10 kWh more than the standard Nexon EV. Despite the larger battery, the Nexon EV Max has the same 350-liter boot space as the regular model. However, the Nexon EV Max is 70kg heavier than the regular model due to the larger battery and an additional 30kg of equipment. Tata Motors has modified the spring and dampers to accommodate the extra weight and also altered the floor structure to fit the larger battery. As a result, the ground clearance of the Nexon EV Max is 10mm lower compared to the regular Nexon EV.
