Tata Punch CNG To Be Launched Soon – Higher Variants Likely To Get Sunroof

Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce the highly anticipated CNG variant of the Tata Punch SUV in the forthcoming weeks. Alongside the innovative twin-cylinder CNG technology, this upcoming model is expected to offer an electric sunroof in the higher-spec variants.

The introduction of the Tata Punch CNG will mark a significant expansion of Tata Motors' CNG product lineup. This move is projected to have a positive impact on the automaker's overall sales, particularly in tier 1 and tier 2 cities.

During the Auto Expo 2023, the much-anticipated Tata Punch CNG model shared the spotlight with the recently launched Tata Altroz CNG. Notably, the Tata Punch CNG garnered significant attention due to its distinctive twin-cylinder technology. Similar to the Tata Altroz CNG, the upcoming Tata Punch CNG is expected to be equipped with a 1.2-liter, naturally-aspirated engine generating 72.5bhp and 103Nm of torque in CNG mode. However, when operating in petrol mode, this engine is anticipated to deliver a more robust output of 84.48bhp and 113Nm of torque.

In contrast to the standard model, the upcoming Tata Punch CNG SUV will not include a 5-speed AMT unit. Instead, the model is set to be exclusively equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission. As for its features, the CNG version of the Tata Punch SUV is anticipated to offer an electric sunroof in the higher trim levels. Interestingly, these new sunroof-equipped trim levels are also expected to be available in the petrol variants of the vehicle.

Unlike the standard Tata Punch, which offers a spacious 366-litre boot, the upcoming CNG version of the Punch SUV is expected to feature a slightly smaller 231-litre boot. This estimation is based on the fact that the boot space of the Altroz CNG decreased by 135 litres when compared to its standard model.

The twin-cylinder technology incorporated in the Tata Punch CNG is a clever engineering solution. Tata Motors' engineers have ingeniously installed two smaller CNG tanks, each measuring 30 litres, instead of opting for a single large tank. This strategic move has allowed them to utilize the boot space more efficiently, ensuring a better overall use of available space.

Additionally, it is noteworthy that the upcoming Punch CNG is expected to have its spare tyre mounted underneath the car, a design choice aimed at creating more space inside the boot. This arrangement was also observed in the models showcased at the Auto Expo 2023.

Regarding the Tata Punch CNG, its introduction is likely to be a strategic move by Tata Motors to enhance sales in urban markets. This upcoming model will serve as a strong contender against the recently launched Hyundai Exter SUV, allowing Tata Motors to compete more effectively in the market.

Overall, the Tata Punch CNG holds the promise of providing an appealing option for customers seeking a micro-SUV with the added benefit of CNG technology, addressing the growing demand for sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
