Autocar India has reported that the Tata Nexon, which is among the top-selling sub-compact SUVs in the country, will undergo a major redesign in August of this year. Tata Motors plans to release the new Nexon Facelift model with significant improvements in design, interior, and engine. Production of the upcoming facelift model will begin at the Ranjangaon factory in July 2023, where it will be manufactured alongside Jeep SUVs, which are built on a separate assembly line at the same location.

The upcoming Tata Nexon is expected to receive a notable redesign for the front fascia, including a split headlight design that will match other Tata SUVs. The new model is likely to feature LED DRLs on top and replace the traditional fog lamps with a projector or LED headlamp setup. Spy shots of the SUV near Pune also indicate that the Nexon will adopt some exterior design cues from the Curvv concept.

While the dimensions of the upcoming Tata Nexon SUV are expected to remain unchanged, the side profile will likely be similar to the outgoing model. The only noticeable change from recent test mule images is the new design of the 16-inch alloys. On the other hand, the rear end of the facelifted Nexon will receive a significant upgrade, featuring sleeker tail lamps with new LED inserts. The tail lamps are expected to be connected by a horizontal LED light bar, and the car will also receive a revised rear bumper.

It is believed that the Nexon Facelift will feature a completely new interior with modern amenities, such as a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which we have already seen in the upgraded Harrier and Safari models. Additionally, the new SUV is expected to receive a new TFT instrument console and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features in the top-spec models. These interior improvements are likely to be included in the upcoming Nexon.

The upcoming Tata Nexon will receive an updated drivetrain, featuring a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023. This new engine is expected to deliver a maximum power output of 125 bhp and 225 Nm of torque, which is 5 bhp and 55 Nm more than the current engine's claimed performance numbers. Additionally, the new petrol engine will be offered with both a proposed 6-speed DCT and the current 6-speed manual transmission options.

The 2023 Tata Nexon will retain the 1.5-liter 110 horsepower diesel engine as its second available powerplant, despite the trend of most compact cars and SUVs avoiding diesel options. The transmission options for the diesel engine, including the 6-speed manual and AMT, are expected to remain the same, unlike the petrol engine, which will receive a new 6-speed DCT. Along with the launch of the new Nexon facelift's internal combustion engine versions, we can also anticipate the launch of the new Nexon EV facelift.

As previously mentioned, the production of the new Nexon facelift is expected to commence from July of this year. According to reports, the company aims to produce approximately 15,000 vehicles every month, including both the petrol and diesel variants. Additionally, it has set a target of manufacturing 5,000 units of the Nexon EV per month as well.
