Maruti Suzuki India may resume work at its Manesar factory in Haryana. According to the new guidelines issued by the Home Ministry, the district administration has given permission to resume operations for a single shift, after which the automaker has taken this decision.

Private industries and industrial establishments operating in rural areas outside the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities can resume their work from April 20, 2020. The Manesar factory will be allowed to run with 4,696 people and 50 vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki's Gurugram plant is yet to get approval to start production, as it is not outside the municipal limits. Both facilities are interlinked and depend on each other. Apart from this, the suppliers of the company are also not working now, so getting the parts can also be a problem.

In a statement on the matter, a Maruti Suzuki spokesperson said, "We request the company to wait for an official announcement on the subject. The company will announce at the appropriate time."

The Haryana government has recently issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to reopen the factories amidst lockdown. Maruti stopped manufacturing vehicles a month ago in view of the Coronavirus epidemic in Manesar. Earlier this week, Maruti Suzuki also announced its SOP to resume work while maintaining social distancing, hygiene, and employee safety.
